Ringwood
€6
Ringwood is a surprisingly simple but effective pattern, with instructions provided for both a top down sock, and a toe up version, With both patterns in one you can try both and see which you prefer. Both versions have a slipped stitch heel and gusset construction.
The pattern is easy to remember and to read from your knitting – this really is my go anywhere, knit anywhere sock pattern for lovely squishy cosy socks.
The pattern includes a schematic showing actual measurements and advice on how to measure your foot and how to adjust your sizing to achieve the best fit.
The Ringwood stitch was my Grandmother’s signature stitch and here I’ve used it to bring out the colours in very variegated yarns and really make them pop. This makes them perfect for that beautiful single, possibly impulse purchase skein of sock yarn.
This stitch pattern was traditionally used to make gloves in Ringwood, approximately 20 miles from where I grew up and the centre of a cottage industry of glove making in Victorian Britain.
