Taking a little time to catch up..

February 23, 2019

As I return to the blog after yet another hiatus, I’ve been thinking more generally about blogging, for instance: Why do it?                               When I do Why feel guilty about it?        When I don’t                         Why do it at all?                   … More Taking a little time to catch up..

I love poppies. They are the perfect combination of colour, fragility and resilience.
Today on the blog I'm talking about summer knits, and this new cotton top which wasn't finished in time for last summer so I put it back for this summer. Present me is very pleased with this treat from past me however tardy she was with her knitting. The link to my blog is in my bio and you can read all about this knit there.
I will never be a food stylist or photographer, but as sure as the rhubarb emerges each spring I will turn it into rhubarb shortbread.
This was day 2 in Venice at the Biennale.
An amazing day.
It's Fashion Revolution Week @fash_rev and a timely reminder to think about our clothes from global fashion and production cycles to the stitches and fibres that make them and microplastics and fibres they shed into our environment. What we wear has a huge impact on our lives, those who make them and those on whom we dump them once we're done with them, unfortunately an ever shrinking cycle.
Easter Pastiera - a pretty good first go. The filling is made with wheat berries, eggs and candied peel. So, so good.
This cute couple are, as we speak, on their way to Ukraine.
Today on the blog a share a low intensity dyeing technique that is perfect for experimenting with different plants, using tannins based dyes, using the exhaust and modifying with iron. It sounds a lot but it's not a long post and if focused on simplifying things to encouraging experimentation and responsible sustainable use of resources.
