Today I released a new pattern, the first in what seems like ages. Design work got really held up with all the summer activity and moving and the foul weather has really messed up plans for a couple of photo shoots….
So Lovely for Lavender is a pattern for lavender bags knitted using stranded fair isle in hexagonal shapes and edged with a strip of lace. They’re quick and easy to make if you’re happy knitting in the round starting with a relatively small number of stitches.
The pattern contains both written and charted instructions and full instructions for sewing up and stuffing with lavender. Alternatively you can stuff them with yarn ends and use your hexagon as a pin cushion, or knitted in 4 ply cotton with a plain back, two hexagons can be sewn together to make coasters.
I’ve used oddments of Jamieson and Smith 2 ply jumper weight and Knit Picks Palette as my main yarn and other oddments of 4 ply for the motifs. You’ll need 70yds/64m (approx 15g) of the main colour and 5m of contrast yarn to make each hexagon.
Whilst the pattern was written, edited and tested at the start of the summer, I had to wait for some of this year’s crop of lavender to dry to finish these off. More patterns will follow in the next few weeks once we get a good day to take some pictures. In the meantime I hope you like these.
